Collaboration between Disney and Nature Conservancy Essay Disney is a famous international company around the world. Not only for the production of cartoon and Disneyland, but also the effort that it have made in sustainable development. Disney has made high efficiency collaboration with Nature Conservancy-a famous environmental protection organization. They have worked closely with each other for decades to create the Disney Wilderness Preserve (DWP) in central Florida (â€Å"Working with Companies†, n.d.). Their collaboration was a success (â€Å"Florida, the Disney Wilderness Preserve†, n.d.), bringing positive outcomes for both business corporation and environmental protection. The research question of our group is: How Disney achieve a highly efficient collaboration with the Nature Conservancy? Disney is willing to devote a large number of money to the protection of environment with other organization, but it is a challenge for both Disney and other organization to achieve their target and high efficiency collaboration. As pointed out by Getha-Taylor (2012), â€Å"Trust is a foundational element for effective collaboration.† Without trust, Disney would not choose to partner with the Nature Conservancy. They need to make a same goal in collaboration. Besides, equal power is an important consideration for Disney and Nature Conservancy to start their programs. The high quality of value co-creation is based on the high integration and organization of resources as well as active mobilization and passion of partners. In this report, literature review and conceptual Framework will be the first part. This part is designed to review the literature that related to the research question and topic. Besides, it will outline some key ideas and theories for the collaboration between Disney and other organizations. Each literature review of team members will be selected to make an integrated which are related to the research question and topic. Then the team will draw a connection between the literature review and data coding results, to develop a preliminary conceptual framework.   Secondly, the team will make enough description for the case on Disney. In this part, the partners and partnerships for Disney will be included.   Thirdly, the methodology that used in the research will be explained. The  team will provide primary data and secondary data for readers. Also, the team will analysis the data to make it clear for readers to understand the importance of those data. Then, the team will have preliminary results for the research question. Some figures or tables will be used to describe the preliminary results.  Finally, the team will make conclusions to summarize the collaboration between Disney and other organizations. Besides, the team will answer the question: How Disney achieve a highly efficient collaboration with the Nature Conservancy? The significance and implications of high efficiency collaboration between Disney and Nature Conservancy. The team will make acknowledgement on the limitation of the study-All achievements and actions of Disney are not very up-to-date, the newest resource comes from Disney’s performance summary report in 2013. The knowledge gap of this report are scientific system to cooperate efficiently between business and NGOs, global strategies in terms of cross-sector cooperation and multi-regional and global alliance. Conclusions The collaboration between Disney and Nature Conservancy is a model for other companies to improve the efficiency in collaboration with organizations and NGOs. They have same goals and trust each other. Besides, their power are equally and Disney provides enough financial support for Nature Conservancy to build and maintain the Disney Wilderness Preserve in Florida. Those factors make the collaboration between Disney and Nature Conservancy become a high-efficiency collaboration. Disney performed efficiently in collaboration with different organizations for its strong executive force and huge spending. However, Disney has challenge in cross-cultural collaboration with other organizations. It required creativeness and multicultural background to deal with. During our research, we found a limitation. All achievements and actions of Disney are not very up-to-date; the newest resource comes from Disney’s performance summary report in 2013. The limitation may affect the accuracy and objectivity of our result to some extent. When researching on these subthemes, one of our research gaps is multi-regional and global alliance. The wetland mitigation program in  central Florida is regional, but Disney is able to do more in terms of multi-regional collaboration since there are so many things else they can do. We didn’t find so many things when it comes to how business increase efficiency when partnering with an organization that shares a different culture background The use of quantitative data analysis and qualitative data analysis are quite helpful for us to find the gap and limitations of the topic, they are efficient methods for us to analyzing the data. Disney makes more collaboration with other organizations to improve to sustainable development of itself, such as the collaboration with National 4-H Council. They make a program called Exploring Your Environment program. It provides fun, interesting and hands-on experiences to help young people learn more about the environment around them. Through Disneys support, â€Å"they were able to create the Connecting Urban Youth to the environment program using Exploring Your Environment, and Disney is now able to reach youth in six urban areas across the U.S. Besides, Disney have supported conservation projects for almost 20 years, invested in conservation programs in 114 countries† (Momdjian, 2014) and worked with forest communities to protect wildlife and critical forest habitats. In the future, Disney needs to improve the capacity in communication. Communication is the basis of Disney’s alliance learning and capacity building if they want to corporate efficiently. Alliance enables cross-section corporations to increase working efficiency. Internal development of such expertise may be too costly, inefficient, and time-consuming for most companies. A Rational Look at the Abortion Controversy One of the most hotly contested issues inside and outside of biomedical ethics today is abortion. The discussion received a new impetus at the release of the controversial abortion drug RU-486, "a pill to increase access to abortions and let women get them privately from their own doctor instead of facing shouting protesters at clinics."2 As is the case with all controversial issues, there are very passionate people on both sides of the fence. Unfortunately, a heated discussion on abortion can easily and quickly turn into a battle of rhetoric rather than a dialectic of reason. But the guiding light in such a discussion must always be reason, not rhetoric or other fallacies, for only reason can solve this issue and judge which side is correct. In this brief essay, I shall attempt to clear away some of the confusion present in typical abortion debates by cooling the rhetoric with reason enlightened by scientific facts. Specifically, I will examine two common pro-abortion arguments made by Mary Anne Warren and Judith Jarvis Thomson and demonstrate that they cannot stand up to rational scrutiny and therefore fail to justify abortion. I shall also use a "quadrilemma" argument similar to that of Peter Kreeft's to show that, aside from all specific argumentation, abortion cannot be morally justified. Before even beginning to discuss the issue of abortion, it is imperative to agree upon a starting point from which to reason. Telecommunication is the science and technology of communication at a distance by electronic transmission of impulses via telegraph, cable, telephone, radio or television. Unprecedented growth in information exchange from 281 petabytes in 1986 to 65 exabytes in 2007 has necessitated the continuous inventions by telecommunication industries to meet up with the demand and this has significantly widened up the industry over the years. Consequently, telecommunication industry has impacted positively on National development and globalization.Thus, National development can be seen as a process that involves extending the benefits of development such as constructing of roads, sinking of boreholes, building of schools, hospitals, etc to the people. National development cannot be possible without development communication, hence, telecommunication. Development communication is the use of communication in the development process. These services include wireless communications, communication equipments and related ancillary services such as sales and marketing of equipments, installation and repairs of gadgets.This has over the years generated over 40 million jobs globally. Reducing the mitigating effect of world economic crisis which had crumbled the world economy. Online trading activities which include Forex t rading has directly been facilitated and this has contributed immensely to the gross domestic products of the economy. The Statute N. M. A. S. 51-1-17, (2011) which is defined as New Mexico’s Annotated Statute describes the disqualification of employee benefits. A individual shall be disqualified and not be eligible to receive benefits if the individual voluntarily left employment, misconduct associated to the individuals employment, or has failed to apply for available work when it was offered. The unemployment statute was created and enacted by The Legislature of The State of New Mexico. In section 2. 51-1-44 NMSA (1978) (being Laws 1977, Chapter 227, and section 6 as amended. The unemployment law is a federal and state partnership but mostly ran by the state employees. The unemployment disqualification law is a discretionary law due to the facts that there are circumstances and exceptions to the rules. For example: if someone was disqualified from benefits and could prove their acts of good faith in trying to search for work or for what reason to why they were disqualified, and by correcting an issue at hand, it would be up to the unemployment’s offices’ discretion to reinstate that persons benefits. Basically what it is meaning that the phrase â€Å"good cause† is a discretionary phrase and who would be the one to say â€Å"what is good enough cause†, or â€Å"what is not good enough cause†, for the voluntarily leaving or quitting a place of employment? That is discretionary. One of the reasons that an individual can be disqualified from unemployment benefits would be for the reason if the individual voluntarily left or quit employment without good reason other than A) a pregnancy or termination of pregnancy, B)because of domestic abuse proven by medical documentation, legal documentation or a sworn testament by the claimant: or C) if the person voluntarily left work to relocate because of spouse, who is in the military service of the united states or the mew Mexico national guard, receiving permanent change of a station orders, activation orders, or unit deployment orders. There are a few other ways an individual; can be disqualified of benefits and that would be if it is determined by the division that the individual has been discharged for misconduct connected with the individuals employment. This means that the person was acting out of the normal and misbehaving at the work place. Most companies do not allow such behavior or misconduct resulting in termination. So an individual cannot turn around and collect unemployment benefits; NMSA 51-1-7 Paragraph A. Sec 2. In addition, one can be denied because if it is determined by the division that the individual has failed without good cause either to apply for available, suitable work when so directed or referred by the division to accept work when offered. This is meaning that an individual must continue to look for work while collecting benefits and accept any job that is offered even if it is not what type of work he/she may be searching for or use to doing. They may not even be satisfied with the pay, however, it is a job and they must take the position if offered otherwise consequently the benefits will stop. Lastly the disqualification of unemployment benefits can also terminate ones benefits due to if the individual has received or is seeking, through any other agency other than the division, unemployment benefits under an unemployment compensation law of another state or of the United States; provided that if their appropriate agency of such other state or of the United States finally determines that the individual is not entitled to such unemployment benefits, this disqualification shall not apply. This disqualification is in NMSA 51-1-7 Paragraph D. (1) â€Å"Domestic abuse† means that the term as defined in Section 40-13-2 NMSA 1978: and (2) â€Å"Employment† means employment by the individual’s last employer as defined by rules of the secretary. â€Å"Exceptions† also known as â€Å"unless† In conclusion of the unemployment disqualification NMSA 51-1-7 (1978) The law indicates the facts of what types of disqualifications there are to have benefits denied or terminated along with reasons for the denial as well. In addition, finding that the law is a â€Å"discretionary law† and not â€Å"mandatory†, meaning it is not a strict law that cannot be changed or amended in the future. Discretionary means it can be changed upon the state’s employees own discretion.
